A Little About Us…
We understand the difficulty involved with entrusting your child’s care, education, and well-being in the hands of someone else. Rest assured, when you choose to bring your children to Teddy’s Place Child Care in Sun Prairie, WI, they’re in the best hands.
Our staff is caring, trained, and committed to helping your child learn and grow. This might also be a good place to mention that we won the Sun Prairie Star’s Best of Childcare award in 2019.
We are licensed by the State of Wisconsin and comply with the Rules for Day Care Centers for Children.
Our Mission
The Teddy’s Place Environment
Home is where the heart is. That’s why we try our best to create a home-like environment through the use of photos, toys, and furniture. More important to creating this environment is our consistent, nurturing staff.
The majority of the teachers have been with Teddy’s Place for 10+ years and hold various associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees. With no time-outs and a focus on positive communication, children learn to face challenges and react with optimism.
Positive Learning
Our Purpose
Our purpose is to nurture children in a safe, positive, family environment and help them learn through developmentally appropriate games and play.
We are lucky to have a large open field and fenced in playgrounds as well as spacious classrooms with lofts. These spaces help children develop the desire to explore and question the environment around them.
Storytime!
The year was 1984. Sharlot Bogart, this story’s main character, decided to establish a child care center of her own. You see, Sharlot had nearly thirty years of experience in early elementary education, special education, and group child care centers. Using this experience, she set off to start Teddy’s Place Child Care, a place where families grow together.
In the beginning, Teddy’s Place started with a preschool program for only eight children. As the word got out that Teddy’s Place was a fun and reliable place for parents to leave their children, excitement built around the town. Seven years later, in 1991, Teddy’s Place expanded to become a group child care center. Now, children ages 6 weeks to 12 years could attend this magical place where they can learn songs, play outside, and much more!
Fast forward to today, and Teddy’s Place has grown to 96 children and has since become an incorporated business. While we continue to grow, Teddy’s Place will always remain focused on the families of the community. Teddy’s Place Child Care has been, and will continue to be, a place where children can learn, grow, and have fun!
Meet Our Teachers
Sharlot Bogart, Director/Owner
Hi, my name is Sharlot. My brother, three sisters, and I grew up with my mother and father on a small farm and 140 acres of land in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We grew up with every story at bedtime having a moral to it.
My father always stressed to us children that we had to leave things better than when we found them and that he hoped that when he died, he would leave this world a better place than when he came into it. This sounds glamorous, but I’m talking LIFE…. Cleaning our rooms, mucking out stalls, weeding the garden, whitewashing hen houses, picking up after playing at the neighbors, stuff that had been lying around since Lincoln was president! You get the picture.
My mother always reminded us to be honest and work hard because God was always watching over us. Talk about scary! I mean seriously, someone always watching over me? I had a lot to worry about with that one. All in all, we had a pretty wonderful life. We were allowed to play and explore every inch of our property after morning and before evening chores, and my mother never worried about our clothes getting dirty or holey.
My life was the epitome of learning through play!
I went on to college, married, had two wonderful daughters, traveled, and taught at several early care and education centers around the Midwest with my husband. After he passed away suddenly, I decided to settle down with my daughters in Sun Prairie.
I took in many teenage girls who needed a little help in life and was privileged enough to add one permanently to our family. Today the three of my daughters are grown and married, and I am lucky enough to have seven beautiful grandchildren.
My life experiences and stories have made me a visionary leader. I enjoy working hard, continuously learning new things to stay ahead of change or to make those changes to better our field, and strive to lead my team to be the best that we can be. Hopefully, we touch all of you; teachers, children, families, and community friends who come through our doors so that you feel better, smarter, and stronger when you leave our family. And hopefully, like my father, when I leave this field of work or life in general, I too will leave it a better place than when I came into it. God bless you all, and may someone always be watching over you!
Amy Ellis, School Age Teacher & Food Program Manager
I have worked at Teddy’s Place for 25 years and have an associate’s degree in child care with the Administrator Credential. I have been working in the office for the past 14 years, but before that, I was an infant/toddler teacher and a preschool teacher.
Some of my job duties in the office include enrolling new families by giving them a tour and checking over paperwork before they start. I manage the children’s files to make sure that all contact information and health forms are up-to-date. I process all billing for accounts. I handle all new and current staff paperwork. I also help out in the classrooms, if needed.
I have two daughters. Brooklyn is a freshman at UW-Richland, and Breanne is a sophomore at Sun Prairie High School. We have a dog, a cat, and a fish who are all part of our family. I am the youngest of 10 children, my brothers, sisters, and their children all live close, so we spend lots of time together.

My son, who is in third grade now, used to come here too but now goes to school in Marshall. On weekends I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. We love going to movies, out to eat, boating in the summer or just hanging out.

I love to travel and have touched the soil of many countries. I love to explore new cultures and food as well. Ms. Erica, Teacher Assistant
Hi There! I am Ms. Erica! I’ve been at Teddy’s Place for 17 years. I worked as a school age teacher while I attended MATC and that’s where I earned my Associates degree in Early Childhood. I graduated MATC in 2006 and became a full-time preschool teacher. In the field of teaching I find that learning as an educator never stops. I was encouraged and received a scholarship to continue my education, so I have furthered my education through UW Milwaukee and have taken classes to go towards a Bachelor’s degree in Community Education. At Teddy’s place my strengths are environment set up, nurturing skills, and organizing. I would say my biggest strength is working for what I want and not being afraid to achieve more than one thing at a time. Besides being a teacher, I am a mother and a wife. I have been married for 13 years in which I met my husband here at Teddy’s; he was a teacher too. We have two children, McKenna and Marshall. The day I became a mom I felt my world was complete. My family loves enjoying the outdoors; swimming, fishing, parks, taking nightly walks, and camping.
Ms. Elizabeth, Room 2 Lead Teacher
Hello my name is Ms. Elizabeth.
I am so excited to be part of Teddy’s family. I grew up in Maryland but was adopted at the age of 8 from a country called Ghana in West Africa. Growing up I enjoyed reading, playing lacrosse, field hockey, and dancing. My favorite Children’s books are “Giving Tree and The Hungry Caterpillar”. I received my undergraduate from the University of Towson. I have been in childcare for 10 years. When I am not working I enjoy reading, traveling, and being with my family. I can not wait to get to know all of the wonderful families here at Teddy’s.
Ms. Nevaeh, School Age Teacher & Room 2 Float
Hi, my name is Nevaeh Kimora Reed I was born on April 19th, 2006, and I attended Sun Prairie East High School I will be graduating next year. My passion is Interior design, ever since I was a little girl, I’ve always loved decorating and remodeling. It’s kinda crazy how I ended up in childcare but one thing for sure is that I learned to have patience and really enjoy the little things, I found out that I love teaching! It is important to me that all kid’s learned to respect everyone and learns patience, acceptance, and more at a young age. My goal every day is to teach your kids something that they didn’t know before they came. I can’t wait to watch them grow into young adults. Some things that I like to do in my free time are work out and swimming. My plan is to spend the rest of the summer and next year with the kiddos. Once my time has come, I’ll see where life takes me. My goal is to have my own business and design studio one day. One piece of advice that I would give to whoever is reading is never give up no matter what there’s always another chapter waiting on you to open it, always be open to trying new things. Be Great always!

Ms. Allison B., Room 3 Lead Teacher
Hello! My name is Ms. Allison and I am one of the preschool teachers here at Teddy’s Place. I graduated in May of 2021 from Madison Area Technical College with my Associate’s Degree in Fitness & Recreation Management. I currently am attending UW-Superior, which consists of online schooling. I will be going there for two years and will then graduate with my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with a minor in early childhood education. I love working at Teddy’s Place as a preschool teacher because you are able to see the children grow over time and become confident in themselves, as well as see their smiles each and every day. Watching relationships form between children and teachers is important to me as well. In my free time, I love to be outdoors. I enjoy camping, hiking, and sightseeing. I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends.
Ms. Alison D., Room 3 Assistant Teacher

Ms. Nohemi, Room 4 Lead Teacher
My name is Nohemi Acosta Calzada, and I was born in 1988 in Zacatecas, Mexico. I came to the United States when I was 6 years old. Leaving my hometown and part of my family was the hardest thing I had to do at that young age.
My parents put me in school, and I had to learn a new language, which was not easy for me. When I took an early childhood development class in high school, I realized I wanted to work with kids — make them smile and watch them grow. I have been working with kids now for 11 years. I also teach kids Spanish!
I have two beautiful daughters, one is 6 years old, and I have a new 6-month-old baby, and I love both with all my heart. In my free time on the weekends, I love riding horses. I recently became a U.S. Citizen, and the process was easier than I thought!
Time with my family outside. I also like watching movies and online shopping! Baking and cooking with my kids are hobbies I enjoy.
Ms. Fatima, Room 4 Lead Teacher
My name is Fatima De Faria; I was born in Venezuela, where you eat arepas, cachapas, and pabellon — where it is summer all year round, and there are beautiful beaches. I have European descendants (from Portugal), so since childhood, I was taught to love two very different countries with the same passion.
I arrived in the USA in 2017, and I am learning a lot of new things, like winter with snow.
I graduated from university in 2013 (graduated in initial education). I love my career, and since then, I have always worked with children. They, with their innocence and love, are able to teach you incredible things.
On weekends and free days, I like to go hiking with my husband and enjoy nature. One of my favorite places, especially in the summer, is the Devil’s lake.
Mr. Austin, School Age Teacher & Room 4 Float
Hi, my name is Austin Riley. I go to beaver dam high school. I am going to be a senior in high school. I like hanging out with friends, listening to music, and traveling. I really like football and most other sports. I am a really big fan of both the Carolina Panthers and Charlotte Hornets. My all-time favorite players are Julius Peppers and Cam Newton. I have lived in different places all my life. I was born in Texas, and my first memories are in Ohio, I did elementary school in Iowa, and after Iowa, I lived in Wisconsin for the other part of my life. I am the youngest of three kids. The oldest sibling in my family is my sister Jen and the middle child is my brother Thomas. I don’t really have an idea what I am doing for a job after High school but an early childhood teacher seems like a good fit for me. What I enjoy most about this job is meeting new people/kids, doing new fun activities, and most days being different from the day before.

Hello!! My name is Tayler Baker and I have been working here at Teddy’s Place since August 2023. I pretty much float around in all the rooms but I can mostly be found in the Infant/Toddler room. I am currently a senior at Sun Prairie East High School and expect to graduate in June of 2024. I work here at Teddy’s Place every morning through the Youth Apprenticeship Program that our school offers. To prepare for this job, I took Infant/Toddler Development and got certified by the Wisconsin State-Certified Cooperative Education as an Assistant Child Care Teacher. So far, I have loved my time being employed here and getting to know all your astonishing kiddos. This job has helped me confirm that after I graduate, I would like to pursue a career in childhood education. Currently, I am committed to attending and playing softball at South Dakota State University starting in the fall of 2024. When I get there, I plan to get my bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education – Birth to 8 Specialization. My favorite part about working in childcare is getting to see the small steps of progress. I love that warm feeling you get when they accomplish something that you’ve been encouraging them to work on for so long. Another one of my favorite parts is seeing their face light up when they smile. In my free time I love to work out, read, bowl, play softball, and babysit.

Ms. Caskey, Float Teacher
Hi! My name is Caskey Schroeder, and I
am a float teacher here at Teddy's Place.
Being a float teacher has given me the
opportunity to assist in all the
classrooms, but over the summers I tend
to work primarily in the school age Room
5. I started working here in August of
2021, and I did a school-to-work program
my senior year. I graduated from Sun
Prairie High School in 2022, and I now
attend UW-Eau Claire. I am majoring in
child psychology and getting certificates
in both American Sign Language and
mental health and well-being. I am still
unsure of what I want to do after college,
but I want to work with young children. I
always look forward to coming back and
seeing all the kiddos during my breaks
from school. It is cool to see how much
they have grown and learned since I last
saw them! In my free time I enjoy dance,
theatre, traveling, and spending time with
friends and family.
Ms. Abby, Assistant Teacher
I’ve been working at Teddy’s Place since October of 2023! I’m currently a senior at Sun Prairie East and am going to be graduating in June. Next year I’m planning on attending college and studying psychology! Since working here, I have enjoyed getting to know and connect with all the amazing kids here, as they are all extremely smart and silly! I was a captain of the girl’s golf team at Sun Prairie East, and I am in National Honors Society and Cardinal Connectors. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, golfing, swimming, reading, and taking my dogs on walks!
Ms. Edith, Assistant Teacher
Hi I’m Ms. Edith!
I recently just started Teddy’s place
a little over a month ago. I am the
assistant teacher in the infant and
toddler room. I’m currently taking
some courses to further my
education. My favorite part of the
day is seeing all of the kids smile.
As well as, seeing them achieve all
sorts of milestones in front of my
eyes! In my free time, I enjoy
spending as much quality time with
my family and golden-doodle! I also
enjoy shopping, baking, gardening
and traveling (especially to Texas &
